The OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Insitute, with headquarters in Peoria, IL, works in conjunction with 17 area hospitals and 9 clinics to provide the most comprehensive services available for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. We deliver our patients special care through CV surgery, MCS, Transplant, Aortic Center, Structural Heart, Advanced HF, Cardio One, Cardio OB, more than 300 STEMI’s a year.

Headquartered in Peoria, Illinois, OSF HealthCare employs almost 26,000 Mission Partners in 171 locations, including 17 hospitals, with 2,305 licensed beds, 200 OSF Medical Group primary care and specialty care clinics, 41 urgent care locations, and two colleges of nursing throughout Illinois and Michigan.

The OSF HealthCare physician network employs more than 2,215 primary care, specialist and advanced practice providers.

Company History

The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis were founded in Peoria, Illinois on July 16, 1877, by Mother M. Frances Krasse, O.S.F., and Bishop John Lancaster Spalding. Property was obtained in 1877 for St. Francis Hospital, which is the present-day site of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Since then, OSF HealthCare has grown to include including 17 hospitals, with 2,305 licensed beds, 200 OSF Medical Group primary care and specialty care clinics, 41 urgent care locations, and two colleges of nursing throughout Illinois and Michigan.

Throughout the rich history of OSF HealthCare, what has not changed is the Sisters’ exceptional commitment to the health of our communities. Though they understand that human caring is the most powerful medicine of all, they integrate that belief with an eagerness to provide OSF caregivers with the best in technology and tools for superior patient care. The early Sisters were pioneers in health care and so are the Sisters today.
