The East Alabama Health (EAH) organization includes East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala. and EAMC-Lanier hospital in Valley, Ala.; between the two hospitals and their collective service lines, there are about 3,700 employees and 380 physicians in the organization, making East Alabama Health Lee County’s second largest employer.

The beautiful Auburn-Opelika area is located 90 minutes from the Atlanta airport, two hours from Birmingham, and less than four hours from many Gulf Coast beaches. It is also home to a diverse, well-connected community with outstanding school systems as well as a vibrant food and entertainment industry. Auburn-Opelika is the second largest area of growth in the state of Alabama, behind only Huntsville.

ABOUT EAST ALABAMA HEALTH

• Opened in 1952 as Lee County Hospital
• Renamed East Alabama Medical Center in July 1981
• Rebranded East Alabama Health in January 2021 to reflect the full continuum of care and services provided for both the healthy and the sick
• Serves an 11-county area
• Lee County’s second largest employer

To keep up with the growing need of care in the area, we have expanded our facilities multiple times. In 2019, we grew our oncology program significantly with the opening of the Spencer Cancer Center, a $40 million development. In 2021, we opened the Auburn Medical Pavilion in the Auburn University Research Park. The Pavilion houses the East Alabama Medical Center Freestanding Emergency Department, outpatient lab and radiology services, an ambulatory surgery center and a specialized Breast Health Center. Additionally, in 2021, with financial support from the community through our EAMC Foundation, an 11-bed, level III NICU opened at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika to serve the growing patient demand for infant services in the area. In the past five years, more than 80 physicians have been recruited to join East Alabama Health.
