Director of Complex Coronary Intervention
The Cardiovascular Institute and the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) are seeking candidates for a full-time academic faculty position as Director of Complex Coronary Intervention. All applicants must be board certified or eligible in Interventional Cardiology, as well as eligible for Commonwealth of Massachusetts medical licensure. An academic teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities will include expertise in complex coronary interventions, including chronic total occlusion intervention (antegrade and retrograde procedures), percutaneous mechanical circulatory support, intravascular imaging interpretation and state-of-the-art PCI techniques other complex coronary lesion subset. Candidates will be expected to perform clinical outreach to establish relationships with local referring groups to grow BIDMC’s complex coronary intervention referral program, contribute to the outpatient evaluation of patients and attend on the cardiology inpatient services (inpatient cardiology floor and/or cardiac intensive care unit.
The applicant is expected to be actively engaged in teaching fellows, residents and medical students, engage in clinical research activities with the interventional cardiology group, and develop a strong presence at scientific and professional society meetings, including through participation in broadcasted live case presentations. The candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to academic medicine as evidenced by a track record of scholarly activity in clinical research. This is an excellent opportunity for a early to mid-career candidate (generally >5 years of experience as an attending physician) seeking to advance their career in interventional cardiology within an elite academic quaternary care referral center. It is anticipated that the candidate will have the qualifications to enter at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The department will be engaged in the newly announced and exciting clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment solely dedicated to defying cancer.
