Description
Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiac Surgeon to join our established practice. Junior surgeons and new graduates are welcome to apply and will have structured mentorship if so desired; senior surgeons are also welcome to apply. The role features a 1-in-4 call schedule and focuses primarily on adult cardiac surgery, with opportunities to expand robotic lung and robotic-assisted open heart procedures - if desired.
The practice is part of Northern Louisiana's largest healthcare system, soon exceeding 1,000 beds, with dedicated access to five operating rooms and an on-site service line director committed to growing cardiovascular services. We emphasize collaboration, including partnerships with interventional cardiologists, weekly journal clubs, and cath lab difficult case conferences. General surgery residents rotate through the service, enhancing educational opportunities. The system is stable and efficient, supported by on-site NPs/PAs for clinic, rounding, and operating room assistance. Our programs include a strong structural heart initiative and an advanced ECMO/shock program, with cannulation and management handled by Critical Care specialists. Primary management of postop open heart patients are done by Critical Care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform adult cardiac surgeries, including CABG, valve procedures, and structural heart interventions.
- Contribute to the growth of robotic lung and open heart surgery programs. If desired.
- Participate in multidisciplinary conferences, resident education, and a balanced 1-in-4 call schedule.
Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Fellowship training in cardiac surgery.
- Commitment to collaborative, high-quality patient care.
- Louisiana medical license or eligibility.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive salary based on experience, with comprehensive benefits including health insurance (Blue Cross PPO , fully funded deductible,) malpractice coverage, CME allowance, retirement plans ( 10% of your base salary is paid by the partnership to your sep!) and paid time off ( you start off at four weeks and the vacations increased one week per year till the cap of 10 weeks! )
