Description
We are currently seeking applicants for our advanced echocardiography fellowship for a start date of July 1, 2027 in Mayo Clinic Arizona. Applications are due by February 2 at 5:00 pm PST.
The Mayo Clinic in Arizona’s one-year advanced Echocardiography Fellowship will transform the very strongest cardiology fellows into tomorrow’s leaders in academic and clinical echocardiography. Our program provides superb training/exposure in all aspects of the echocardiography environment including transthoracic 2D, 3D imaging, strain imaging, stress echocardiography, adult congenital heart disease echocardiography, intraoperative and interventional/structural TEE. After successfully completing the program, graduates are eligible to complete the certification process offered by the National Board of Echocardiography (Level 3).
Some of the program highlights include
- Core-teaching faculty of 15 who are committed to trainees’ echocardiography education as well as research.
- Mayo Clinic Arizona echocardiography lab performs > 20,000 transthoracic echocardiograms/year and >1400 TEEs/year.
- Only one echocardiography fellowship position per year.

Requirements
- U.S./Canadian trainees are required to graduate from an accredited three-year cardiology fellowship program located in the United States, its territories, or Canada
- International Medical Graduates (IMG) are required to graduate from a medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and an equivalent internal medicine and cardiology training programs.
- All graduates from medical schools outside the U.S. and Canada must be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to qualify for admission. Information about certification and visa sponsorship, if required, is available from the ECFMG website.
- Mayo Clinic supports ECFMG J-1 visa sponsorship for residents and fellows enrolled in graduate medical education. Applicants must refer to the specific program website to confirm if the program meets all requirements for ECFMG J-1 visa certification.
- Completion of one of the following examinations:
- United States Medical Licensure Examinations (USMLE)
- Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX)
- Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE)
