Chief Purpose of this position: The department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology is seeking a candidate to provide Adult Congenital Heart Disease clinical care along with supporting the academic mission in research and education. The ACHD program completed the accreditation site visit and institutionally has the support for strong a program. The incumbent will join an established group of physicians and surgeons in one of the top Heart Centers in the United States.
Position Responsibilities: Providing comprehensive care in the inpatient and outpatient setting for adults with congenital heart disease regardless of severity of illness. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including pediatric cardiologist, congenital and adult cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, advanced heart failure and transplant specialists, hepatologists, social workers, nurses, and others. Participate in outreach clinics. Participate in research and education activities related to ACHD, such as publishing papers, presenting at conferences, teaching fellows and residents, and mentoring students. Assist in the development of an ACHD fellowship.
Required Qualifications:
- The incumbent must be a BC Cardiologist and BC/BE in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.
- Candidate must be clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for an academic appointment.
- Candidate must be able to communicate effectively and work with a large multi-disciplinary program.
- Candidate will be expected to participate in Teaching and Fellowship programs.
- The incumbent must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Virginia.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
